Stringing with the Fixed Clamp

Stringing with the double action clamps is a breeze. 

• The clamps grip the strings securely just like the flying clamps. 
• The base revolves around the base effortlessly and glides along the rails smoothly.  
• The clamp base locks into place by raising the lever to the vertical position.  It has a positive feel to it when the lever is set to the lock position.

The only thing I miss from the flying clamps is the thumbwheel knob that allows for quick clamp opening adjustment.  The fixed clamps use a hex nut on one side of the clamp.

Overall, I'm very happy with the fixed clamps.  It is very easy to use.  The clamps hold the strings securely without damage.  Since the clamps are convenient positioned on the turntable, I don't have to fumble around looking for them.  It also eliminates the need for a scrap string in doing the first cross where I have to clamp the first cross in one channel and the scrap string in the 2nd channel.

Compared to the flying clamps, I'm able to shave off close to 30 minutes from each string job!  And that's doing it leisurely.  :)
