"If you have version 3.72 there is no way to get an
automatic software upgrade, you must call Thompson product support and get scheduled for a
"paddle upgrade". This service is free and you don't have to be a DTV subscriber
to get it. The problem is that it was a huge pain to get set up. It took about a month's
time and we went through 3 local repair shops before the Thompson support person (Lisa)
found a repair shop that would actually follow through and do the job. You'll see my last
post was on Jan 25th, well I just finally was able to bring my unit in yesterday and got
it back today! Hello firmware version 5.10 !!!
I'm happy to say that the upgrade fixed my problems of audio
dying and spontaneous reboots when certain stations were turned in as was expected.
Call 1-877-722-4388 and ask for Lisa or the "paddle
upgrade" specialist.
I'd be very interested in finding out how things work out for
you, let me know. I suspect they have ironed out their support problems enough that it
shouldn't take you months to get your firmware upgraded like it did for me."
