Below are tips from Mike Suave's website that used to be at http://www.members.tripod.com/~remotewindow/tp61h95codes.html.
That site however is no longer active. His email appears to be
inactive also. =(
I'm posting it here only because there has been a number of
requests about that page. I'll take the info down when his new site is found.
Below is a cut and paste of the cached page. If anyone knows
of Mike's new website or new email address, please let me know so I can contact him and/or
link to his new site.
Toshiba TP61H95 Service/Designer mode settings. Last updated 12/21/99.
To get into Service mode:
Turn your TV on.
Press MUTE on your remote and release.
Press down MUTE on your remote again and hold. While holding, press the MENU button on
your TV set's front panel. Release both buttons.
An "S" should appear on your screen. Press MENU again on your TV.
Now you're in service mode.
To get into Designer mode:
From Service Mode, press RECALL on remote and hold. While holding, press the MENU
button on the TVs front panel. A "D" should appear on the screen.
You can scroll through settings by pressing channel UP/DOWN on your TV. You can
change settings by using the volume control on the remote.
To exit Service or Designer mode, turn off the power.
Record all current settings before doing anything else!!!
To get into convergence mode:
Get into Service mode, then
Hit '7' to bring up the convergence grid.
Buttons 100, 0, and ENT control which gun you want to turn off (if you want to
align the red to the green without seeing the blue gun and other variations).
2=up, 8=down, 4=left, 6=right, 3=change gun to converge, 5=converge that point.
To exit convergence mode you press 7 once and your screen should look like it's
imploding then return to normal and then you press 7 to get back into regular service
mode.
Comments on Designer mode settings
In general, the procedure for calibrating this set should proceed from the more general
settings to the most specific ones. The settings at the beginning of the list below affect
all input/modes (where applicable), so should be done first. There are special settings
for the "Medium" color temperature mode, "Theater" mode,
"Warm" mode, and for the DVD (Colorstream/component) inputs. The following
sequence will take advantage of this and allow optimal calibration of all inputs/modes. I
believe the info below is correct, but assume no responsibility. Make sure you record all
settings before making any changes, this will let you get back to the original settings
should things not work out.
Note that you may have to pop into/out of Designer mode to follow this procedure. While
in Designer mode, you can press "Exit" and "Menu" to toggle between
setting mode and "normal" mode. You may be able to press the "Closed
Caption" button to get to the preference menu when not in the setting mode if you are
using the composite input. If you have a UEIC (Cinema7, AllforOne, etc.) remote,
"magic" code 078 may take you directly to the preference menu.
Many of the mode/input specific settings are offsets, which are added/subtracted with
the generic settings. For instance, when in Composite/Theater mode, the end result for Red
Cut will be the sum of RCUT, CORC, and EORC. When in DVD/Theater mode, the end result for
Contrast will be the sum of CNTC, EOCT, DDCT, and DOCT. Offsets are in 2's compliment
notation - 0 is no change, 1 is +1, FF is -1, etc.
Start with composite (Video1 or Video2) input, and press "Reset" to ensure the
set is in "Normal" mode defaults.
Adjust the PIP displays using the H9R PVP6 series of settings. Start with the
upper/left display. Note that there are separate controls for large and small displays.
You can also adjust PIP video using the PHUE PCOL series of controls.
Adjust contrast/brightness/colors to your desired "Cool" using the parameters
at the beginning of the list below (RCUT SHPV)
Enter the preference menu and change the color temperature to "Medium."
Adjust the color temperature to your desired "Medium" using the
"2O??" controls.
Enter the preference menu and change the preference to "Theater."
Adjust the contrast/bright/colors to your desired "Warm/Theater" using the
"EO??" controls.
Change to a component (DVD) signal, and press Reset to ensure the set is in
"Normal" mode defaults.
Adjust the "D???" controls which affect all modes (DCLC, DTNC, DCLS, DORC,
DOGC, DOBC, DDCT, DDBR, DSHP)
Enter the preference menu and change the preference to "Theater."
Adjust the "D???" controls which affect "Warm/Theater" modes. (DOCT,
DOBR, DOCL, DOTT)
Notes on parameter name prefixes: H=HDTV, N=480i, P=480p, I=1080I, (I think E=Theater
and O=Warm)
The setting which have min, center, max: the onscreen controls will scale smoothly
between min and center as the control goes from 0-50, and scale between center and max as
the control goes from 50-100.
That's it. Please email me at msauve@altavista.net
if you find anything incorrect or if you have additional information I should add to this
document. I have not looked for S-Video or DTV controls, but there are some in the list
below, which may apply. I'm sorry, I can't offer any support for your xxxxx TV. What you
see here is what you get. You may want to check out the Digital
Theater Forum. You may also want to check out what Steve Martin (not that one,
Cheezmo) has figured out with his TW65H80: http://www.cheezmo.com/TW65H80-grid.html
Also, Stephen Smith has created a spreadsheet to simplify
calculations of appropriate values.
Enjoy!
"Orig" is how my set was delivered, "New" is how I now have it set.
These are in the order they appear in the Designer mode.
