Tip from Michael TLV: "Removing
the Protective Screen KP-**XBR10W 16:9 RPTVs (57" and 65")
Here are the instructions in a nutshell. Pretty straight forward and relatively quick
once you know what to expect.
Remove the front speaker grill. Its clipped in there and not by the super velcro
either so it should be easy to pry off.
Unscrew the screws at the bottom of the screen frame. (4 to 6 screws). Do not try to
pull off the screen yet.
Unscrew the front control panel. You need to disconnect the flash focus and power plug
connected to the screen of the TV.
Now it is time to take the front frame off. It is not as scary as the HS10 4:3 units.
The frame actually pops off and the three piece screen is attached to the front of the TV.
To take the frame off look for two little boxes on the bottom left and right sides
of the frame. Pop off the covers and you will find two more screws. Take them out. The
frame is ready to come out.
The frame pops out easily from the bottom end first. There is a small upper lip that
holds the frame on. Small click clips hold the frame on the sides.
With the frame off and safely put aside, you will note that the screen assembly is held
on the TV by about eight metal strips.
Unscrew the top two strips, but do not take the screws off. You dont need to. Once
you unscrew the screws enough, the metal strips have enough space to just slide out.
Now remove the two metal strips on either the left side or the right side, but not both.
Pick one side. Same procedure as the top strips. Hold onto the screen though. Do not want
it to drop.
Loosen the screws on the other side just a bit and on the bottom as well. The screen
easily slides out. The three pieces of the screen are taped together so you have to loosen
the tape to get the protective screen out of there.
Takes about 15 minutes. Now remove the protective screen or restack it to the back.
You might want to take the opportunity to clean the protective screen at this time
before you finish the restack.
Take the 3 pieces back to the TV and place the screen in the bottom lip first and slide
it into the metal strips on the side that you left on.
Retighten and put it all back together. Remember to plug the power plug back in
behind the front cover.
