CT36HX41 Alignment
<< Back to Panasonic Tips
Tip from Jim Forgione: "I
recently purchased a Pana 36 Tau series HDTV (CT36HX41). The color
'balance' and b/w tracking was not to my liking. So after reading the
information on you fabulous site, I set out to improve it.
This table below shows my initial values (jrf_ini), a second
set's values (set_#2), and my final adjustments (jrf_final)
to effect a good color balance and gray scale tracking. Although
these values may be different from another set, they represent "good" starting
points.
The picture shows the set in the Serviceman Mode (SM) with the 'key' parameters in red;
the b/w tracking and color drive in green; B-Y_G and TINT in red mainly control the
look of the final picture.
The picture shows the set in the SM with the 'key'
parameters in red; the b/w tracking and color drive in green.
NOTE: The user controls have re-normalized so that after performing a
"reset", all parameters (except the PICTURE) will be in the 'middle'
of their ranges. Therefore the user need only change one control, namely the
SHARPNESS to suit their taste. The COLOR, TINT, BRIGHTNESS will be ok as is.

Update
Here's the latest (and last, I hope) update for my Pana HDTV 'adventure'!
As you can see from the table below, it's has expanded into three (3) sets. That's
because that's how many it has taken to 'satisfy' me. A TV sets convergence is my Achilles
heel. I do not like a sloppily converged set. If so, I fix it if I can.
Although today, it's a lot more difficult to do since it's all done by 'stick-on' magnetic
strips.
Anyway, the chart shows the results of tweaking and the final values of the
adjustable parameters to obtain what really is very good, balanced natural color. SET_3
was delivered a few days ago, and it's the one whose as-delivered convergence
and purity was acceptable.
